What’s Your Brand Identity?

We have all heard the phrase, “Oh, I’ve heard a lot about you…”, but what exactly does that mean? What types of things are said about you in your personal and professional circles in your absence?

Our interaction with others unconsciously causes people to have an automatic opinion of us. Good, bad, or otherwise, it’s there. You become “that” person, you know, the one that does that thing you do. Often, our brand is introduced by those who have previously interacted with us.

Considering that most of our brands are created organically by the way we live our lives and by the work we do, why not take the opportunity to make sure our brands are top tier? Striving for excellence is a goal that we should all have in each aspect of our lives. Still, professionally speaking, we should be aligning ourselves with those who can help us cultivate that brand so that we can capitalize on it.

There are many ways in which we can begin to cultivate and expand our brands. Seeking professional development opportunities, mentorship, apprenticeships, and formal education are just a few of the ways that we can expound on who we want to be. Finding your niche and subsequently arriving at your “why” allows you the opportunity to hone your craft and increase your level of expertise.

We have the opportunity to craft the lives we want to live and be the people we want to be. So, what does your brand say about you?
